Earlier this evening Republican Senator Ted Cruz announced on Twitter that he’s been exposed to the coronavirus, and while he doesn’t yet have any symptoms, he’s self-isolating as a precaution. It turns out Cruz isn’t the only one on the Hill who’s been exposed.

GOP Congressman Paul Gosar just tweeted this: “I am announcing that I, along with 3 of my senior staff, are officially under self-quarantine after sustained contact at CPAC with a person who has since been hospitalized with the Wuhan Virus. My office will be closed for the week. We are all asymptomatic and feel great. But we are being proactive and cautious.“

Again, we’re not rooting for anyone to get the coronavirus. These people are corrupt and dishonest politicians, but that doesn’t mean they deserve to die of some horrible viral infection. In addition, these politicians have families who could end up infected as well.

But it’s notable that after Donald Trump botched the coronavirus response and claimed it was all a hoax, it’s the politicians from his own Republican Party who are now having to take steps for fear they may be infected with it. Will Trump get his act together now? We doubt it.
