Bill Barr has a real problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For the second time this week, a federal judge has accused Attorney General Bill Barr of having committed a criminal act by suppressing the Mueller report and then intentionally misrepresenting what it said. Obviously the Department of Justice can’t bring criminal charges against Barr while Donald Trump is still president. But Barr has a real problem here.

These judges just provided clear legal groundwork for bringing a felony obstruction of justice case against Bill Barr in the future. If Joe Biden wins the 2020 election and becomes President, his most logical Attorney General is someone with prosecutorial experience, such as Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar or Adam Schiff. Any of them will bring criminal charges against Barr and try to put him in prison.

It’s hard to imagine Bill Barr staying out of prison unless Donald Trump pardons him on his way out the door. No wonder Barr has been working so hard to try to trick Trump into believing that he’s making progress in the imaginary criminal case against Andrew McCabe, and the imaginary exoneration of Michael Flynn.

Even if Trump does pardon Barr, it opens the door to legal challenges about pardoning a co-conspirator, which could result in the pardon being struck down.
