Donald Trump is falling to pieces right before our eyes
Donald Trump has appeared to be in poor physical, mental, and cognitive health during nearly every one of his public appearances since his mysterious hospital visit a few months ago. But over the past few days, he’s come off worse than ever. And when he appeared at a press conference today, he came across as half dead. Frankly, a lot more than half.
It’s not difficult to guess why Donald Trump is falling to pieces. We’re on the verge of a worldwide pandemic that’s now beginning to break out in the United States, and he knows his incompetent regime is not in position to deal with it effectively. The stock market has plummeted by fifteen percent this week, because the coronavirus has already impacted the world economy in a way that’ll harm the U.S. economy, and Trump has no idea how to deal with an economic downturn. But that’s only the half of it.
We know that Donald Trump is clinically incapable of empathy, except when he’s worried about the impact on himself. He feels bad for his fellow aging white male criminals when they get harsh sentences, because he fears the same thing will happen to him if he loses the election. But he doesn’t care if people out there die from the coronavirus. Nor does he care if people out there face economic hardship. The only reason for him to be so worried and so dejected during his press conference today, so obviously lacking in sleep and peace of mind, is if he’s worried this is going to blow back on him.
So is Trump worried that he’s going to catch the coronavirus? In his deluded mind, he’s in perfect health anyway, so perhaps not. He’s surely, worried, however, about what a failed response to an epidemic and a sinking economy will do to his already-weak 2020 prospects. This is all coming even as Joe Biden – whom Trump fears so much, he got himself impeached trying to stop him – utterly dominated in South Carolina tonight. No wonder Trump is falling to pieces right in front of our eyes.
