Mike Bloomberg just took a blowtorch to Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump stayed up half the night last night ranting on Twitter about how much he resents Mike Bloomberg. He attacked Bloomberg’s physical attributes. He made up idiotic and bizarre false claims about Bloomberg’s height. This is telling, considering Bloomberg isn’t even really in contention in the 2020 Democratic primary. Why is Trump so worried about an also-ran candidate?

The answer seems pretty straightforward: Mike Bloomberg is an actual billionaire, while Donald Trump is deeply indebted stooge who lives off money that isn’t his. Bloomberg is popular in his hometown of New York City, while Trump is so despised there, he recently changed his official state residency to Florida. And of course Bloomberg has promised to spend significant money running TV ads supporting whichever Democratic nominee ends up taking on Trump.

Trump’s obsession with Mike Bloomberg has given higher exposure to his campaign. This morning Bloomberg’s campaign adviser Tim O’Brien was given airtime on the Joy Reid show on MSNBC, and he landed this zinger: “When you get inside Donald Trump‘s head, all you’re going to discover is a putter, a cheeseburger, a porn video, and somebody else’s credit card.”
