Donald Trump goes off the deep end as Senate impeachment trial threatens to implode
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi isn’t going to let Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have a Senate impeachment trial unless they make concessions toward fairness. Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski is very publicly trying to force McConnell to make similar concessions. McConnell is admitting he’d rather not even be involved with a trial. Trump is left in limbo, and it’s becoming a more tenuous limbo by the day.
That’s why it’s not surprising that Donald Trump is doing what he does best: he’s whining like a baby. Trump actually tweeted this surreal sentence last night: “Why should Crazy Nancy Pelosi, just because she has a slight majority in the House, be allowed to Impeach the President of the United States?” It’s actually a thirty-six seat majority, but who’s counting? Certainly not Trump. He also doesn’t appear to understand what “majority rules” means.
Trump then went on to rant a bunch more about Pelosi, and in the process he managed to misspell “allowed” as “alowed.” This might mark the first time in which Trump has spelled the same word two different ways in the same tweet. He ended up deleting the entire thing and trying again. We’re still left wondering which of Trump’s handlers are helping him with social media while he’s down in Florida.
In any case, nothing quite sums up the holiday spirit like the President of the United States viciously insulting the Speaker of the House on Christmas night. One thing to keep in mind: when Trump is insulting someone, it means he’s losing to that person. Trump is currently losing the impeachment battle to Nancy Pelosi by quite a wide margin.
