Rudy Giuliani is tipping off that he expects to be arrested soon, as he’s throwing caution to the wind by making the extraordinarily risky move of traveling to Ukraine and meeting with his own criminal co-conspirators in a bizarre effort to manufacture evidence of his innocence. At the same time, Rudy is trying out a very lawyer-like tactic on another matter, which tips off that he’s already focused on his defense at his seemingly inevitable criminal trial.

This week the House Intelligence Committee revealed that it’s obtained cellphone records detailing Rudy Giuliani’s phone calls to and from the Trump regime on the most crucial days in the Ukraine extortion scandal. Notably, the records show Rudy speaking on the phone with the Office of Management and Budget during the precise timeframe in which the OMB was illegally withholding U.S. military aid from Ukraine.

This helps establish that Rudy was directly involved with the decision to illegally withhold the aid. That’s remarkable considering that he was actively pressuring Ukraine to smear the Bidens at the time, and he’s not even a member of the Trump administration. This is going to go a long way toward establishing that Rudy’s antics in Ukraine were part of Donald Trump’s criminal extortion plot.

CNN says that Rudy Giuliani had this to say in response to the phone call records: “[I] don’t remember calling OMB and not about military aid never knew anything about it.” Really? That’s what he’s going with? His dog ate his phone? No one will believe this. But that’s not the point. Rudy is trying to carve out a sliver of reasonable doubt, because that’s the only thing that he thinks might save him at trial. It won’t work.
