Donald Trump is in cognitive freefall
It seems apparent that the stress of the imminent impeachment is threatening Donald Trump’s physical and mental wellbeing. Not that he was overly strong in either prior to the impeachment inquiry, but things have certainly gone further off the rails recently. While we have been laughing and/or terrified at what Trump has done or said for the past few years, it’s clear that the stress of the recent congressional hearings is catching up to him.
Last weekend Trump made an unplanned trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center under the guise of beginning his 2020 annual physical three months early. Because this made absolutely zero sense, many in the media appropriately questioned the unexpected trip to the hospital. While most previous Presidents utilized the Marine One helicopter for trips to Walter Reed hospital, Trump’s trip was taken via car, just another strange optic in the story. We still have not received a legitimate explanation for the sudden trip, but some believe that it was due to a health crisis.
Trump’s mental deterioration has also been on display. During most of his recent public statements, whether at the White House or during his frequent hate rallies, it has appeared that he is incapable of holding a single thought without going off on a tangent as well as slurring his words at times. On Monday, Trump took part in a White House ceremony to honor the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. During the signing of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act he made the bizarre statement, “I am curious why wasn’t it done a long time ago and also, well, I guess the answer to that is because now I am president and we get things done.”
Apparently Trump, under such stress from knowing he is about to be impeached, fails to understand how time works. He, apparently, felt that had he been in power earlier, he could somehow have ensured that the 100 year anniversary actually occurred sooner. It is public statements like this, along with his unknown recent medical issues, that make more people wonder just what the hell is going on with him.
