World Series star Sean Doolittle tells Donald Trump to go to hell
This past week we saw how Washington Nationals fans feel about Donald Trump, when he showed up at one of their World Series games, and the fans responded by booing him and then chanting “Lock him up!” Now it turns out at least one key Washington Nationals player despises Trump just as much as the fans do, and he’s publicly saying so.
Sean Doolittle, the closer for the Washington Nationals, is telling the Washington Post that he’ll boycott his team’s White House visit on Monday. Why? Doolittle – who is white – blames Donald Trump’s rhetoric for fueling the resurgence of the white supremacist movement in this country, and “I don’t want to hang out with somebody who talks like that.” He’s also morally opposed to Trump’s anti-LGBT stances.
Doolittle is also spelling out why the old tired “respect the office” argument doesn’t apply to a monster like Donald Trump: “People say you should go because it’s about respecting the office of the president … over the course of his time in office he’s done a lot of things that maybe don’t respect the office.”
What’s interesting here is that the Washington Post says Sean Doolittle isn’t the only Washington Nationals player who’s considering boycotting the White House visit on Monday. Donald Trump is such an embarrassment, entire championship winning sports teams – including the Golden State Warriors – have collectively boycotted the White House.
