Kevin McCarthy goes completely off the rails

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kevin McCarthy seems to think that his job as House Minority Leader is not to serve the American people, but to say the most ridiculous and dishonest things he can think of in defense of Donald Trump. He’s right, in the sense that the only reason Trump steered McCarthy toward the job is McCarthy’s willingness to play the stooge.

Today we saw the full House vote to make the rules and procedures of Donald Trump’s impeachment official. Today we also saw Kevin McCarthy go completely, absurdly, and cartoonishly off the rails in the name of defending Trump’s dying presidency. McCarthy inexplicably claimed that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was “backtracking” by holding today’s vote to move forward.

McCarthy also insisted that “Today is a dark day for this chamber. It will be a day remembered as a time when a political party tried to not only change the results of the LAST election, but also influence the NEXT one.” That’s laughable, considering Donald Trump is specifically being impeached for trying to criminally conspire with a foreign nation to influence the results of the next election.

Now would be a good time to remind everyone that Kevin McCarthy took a significant amount of illegal foreign money from Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, who have since been arrested for their roles in Donald Trump’s Ukraine criminal scandal (he’s since given it away). McCarthy had better hope he can demonstrate that he didn’t know he was taking foreign money, or he’ll end up in prison alongside Lev and Igor.
