Donald Trump suddenly has a whole new problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On a day when Bill Taylor’s impeachment testimony just delivered a bodyblow to Donald Trump, and Trump is resorting to a bizarre stunt involving Kellyanne Conway as a distraction, now Trump suddenly has a whole other problem to worry about.

Remember when an anonymous Trump White House senior official penned an op-ed last year calling out Donald Trump as being profoundly unfit for office? We never did learn who that person was. But now this same anonymous official is publishing an insider tell-all book exposing more details about Trump’s disastrous presidency and unfit nature.

To be frank, we’re not necessarily impressed. This White House official clearly still thinks Donald Trump is a threat to America, but instead of coming forward by name and giving heft to the allegations in a way that could take Trump down, this person is instead cashing in with a book deal from the shadows. Bill Taylor, Fiona Hill, and Marie Yovanovitch have put their name on their testimony. This anonymous Trump adviser isn’t willing to come out of the shadows, and there’s no evidence that this person is doing any good by remaining on Trump’s team and supposedly trying to thwart Trump from within.

All that said, this book is still going to be a major problem for Donald Trump. The revelations in the book will get significant attention from the media and the public, which is the last thing Trump needs right now. Interestingly, this book deal appears to confirm that the anonymous author is still working in the Trump White House, which – given the large number of recent departures and small number of senior White House officials left – significantly narrows down the number of people who could be the author.
