Now that Rudy Giuliani’s top two Ukraine scandal henchmen have been arrested on federal campaign finance felony charges, the big question being asked is whether they’ll cut a plea deal against Giuliani. Here’s the thing: it turns out they’ve already sold Rudy out.

Michael Carpenter of the PennBiden institute has made a point of reminding everyone on Twitter that just a week ago, the two arrested men sent a letter to the House impeachment inquiry, “confirming that they assisted Mr. Giuliani in connection with his representation of President Trump.”

In response, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy asserted that “this is developing into a massive story,” and it’s easy to see why. These two guys were already selling out Rudy Giuliani by dragging him into the mix, back when they were merely trying to fend off the House impeachment inquiry. Now that they’ve been arrested and charged with the kinds of crimes that can send them to prison for several years, it’s not difficult to imagine them further selling Rudy out in the hope of getting a reduced sentence.

Rudy Giuliani’s response to the arrests is interesting. He hasn’t tweeted anything about it all thus far, but he did give a brief response to Vanity Fair reporter Gabriel Sherman. Rudy’s response to the notion of these two guys flipping on him: “good luck.”
