Adam Schiff just got his man

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Various House Democrats have publicly expressed optimism over the past couple days that the whistleblower will soon testify against Donald Trump in the House impeachment inquiry. But while we wait for that process to play out, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has landed a different witness who could end up being arguably even more crucial.

Over the weekend, Rudy Giuliani tweeted some of his text message exchanges with State Department Envoy Kurt Volker, in an attempt at proving that Rudy had the support of the State Department when he began conspiring with Ukraine. This led to Volker quickly resigning his job, amid scattered buzz that Volker could end up giving cooperative testimony to the House impeachment inquiry.

Sure enough, just now NBC News broke the news that Kurt Volker is now officially set to testify before the House Intel Committee this Thursday. That’s less than seventy-two hours away. What’s interesting is that this news isn’t coming from the committee, it’s coming from the McCain Institute, which Volker runs. In other words, it’s Volker himself who wants everyone to know that he’s testifying, which means he’s ostensibly looking to clear his name โ€“ which would mean he’s going to give up everyone involved.

We don’t yet know if this testimony is set to be in public or private. The House Intel Committee often holds its hearings at least partially in private, due to the sensitive information involved in such matters. But either way, Kurt Volker is about to tell Adam Schiff what Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani were really doing with Ukraine โ€“ and that should have Trump and Rudy both quaking in their boots. Interestingly, this comes shortly after the House subpoenaed Rudy Giuliani.
