GOP Senator Ben Sasse has read the whistleblower report and he’s hinting that it’s terrible for Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This morning the Trump White House released a partial summary of Donald Trump’s phone call with the president of Ukraine, and it alone is enough to incriminate Trump and send him to prison. Then this afternoon the Trump regime turned over the full whistleblower complaint to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.

That complaint is not yet public, because at least portions of it are considered classified. Democrats who have read it, including Adam Schiff, have generically confirmed that it’s the real deal and that it validates their decision to impeach Donald Trump. But Republican Senator Ben Sasse also read the complaint, and took things further.

Here’s what Ben Sasse said about the whistleblower report, according to multiple major news outlets: “Republicans ought not to be rushing to circle the wagons and say there’s no there there when there’s obviously a lot that’s very troubling there.”

Ben Sasse is a weakling and waffler who tries to play both sides, and can’t ever be trusted to do the right thing. But it’s nonetheless a big deal that after seeing the whistleblower complaint, Sasse is not only refusing to defend Donald Trump, he’s publicly urging his Republican Senate allies not to defend Trump either. It’s pretty clear that the complaint is bad enough for Trump that people like Sasse are afraid they’re going to be taken down just for being part of Trump’s political party.
