House Democrats just figured out how to use Elaine Chao take Donald Trump down

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As a general rule, when you’re a cabinet member and you see your name trending on Twitter, it’s usually not a good sign for you. When you’re a cabinet member and you’re married to a Senate Majority Leader who is criminally entangled with an illegitimate President of the United States, and you see your name trending, it’s definitely not a good sign.

Yet that’s the situation that Donald Trump’s Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao found herself in today. Her name is trending because the House Oversight Committee announced today that it’s targeting her for using the office to benefit her own family business. This probe will see the usual stonewalling from the Trump regime, court battles over subpoenas, and so on. But the Democrats keep quietly winning those battles, and they’ll win here too. So what does this have to do with taking Donald Trump down?

House Democrats are doing the right thing by targeting Elaine Chao, because she’s corruptly abusing her position. But it’s also the politically savvy thing, because they’re going to keep digging until they manage to expose whatever laws Chao’s company has been breaking in relation to her abuse of her office. That sets up Chao for a massive financial hit, and possibly even criminal prosecution, once Trump is gone.

That is, of course, unless she cooperates. And by “cooperate” we don’t mean working with House Democrats to expose her own crimes. No, in this instance, “cooperation” would consist of Elaine Chao having Mitch McConnell steer things toward Donald Trump’s downfall and ouster – at which point Chao would just quietly resign. Also, considering that McConnell is up for reelection in 2020, the Chao investigation won’t exactly help out his prospects – again, unless he helps make it go away by selling Trump out.
