Donald Trump just lost
For all his erraticism, Donald Trump has been doing something with increasing consistency of late: losing. He’s losing his trade war. He’s losing on the economy. He’s losing, badly, in the 2020 polls. He’s also flat out losing his mind, but that’s another story. What stands out here is that Trump is now on a mind bending losing streak – and he just notched yet another humiliating, if predictable, loss.
Last month Donald Trump invited his far-right social media sycophants to sit in the front row of a press conference on the White House lawn, while credentialed reporters from respected news outlets were forced to sit in the back. Afterward, white supremacist lunatic Sebastian Gorka got into a verbal altercation with Brian Karem, a respected reporter for CNN and Playboy. As a result, the Trump regime suspended Karem’s press credentials.
Karem vowed to fight the matter in court, and last night he revealed that he had indeed gotten the courts to reinstate his press credentials. This was predictable. When Trump took away CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s credentials awhile back, the courts also reinstated his press pass.
It’s not just that Donald Trump lost here. It’s that in the process of losing, he elevated Brian Karem’s profile, and handed Karem a badge of honor and easy bragging point going forward. Karem has never held back when it comes to asking tough questions at White House press conferences, but now he has the added cache of knowing he essentially can’t be kicked out for doing his job. Trump keeps fighting stupid battles, and he keeps losing them.
