Donald Trump goes berserk after DOJ clears James Comey of any criminal leaking

If Donald Trump and his supporters were hoping that Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz was going to recommend criminal charges against former FBI Director James Comey, they were kidding themselves. Horowitz has already made clear through his previous reports that he’s not willing to protect anyone or falsely accuse anyone of anything.

The Inspector General dropped his report today on James Comey’s decision to publicly release his memos documenting Donald Trump’s obstruction of justice crimes. Sure enough, the IG concluded that while Comey violated some policies in the process, he didn’t violate any laws, and there’s nothing to convict him for. Also, water is wet and the sky is blue.

But this crushed the long-standing pipe dream on the part of Trump and company, who seemed certain that the IG was going to recommend phony criminal charges against Comey. Donald Trump clearly wasn’t happy, posting this tweet in response: “Perhaps never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated than James Comey in the just released Inspector General’s Report. He should be ashamed of himself!”

That’s all Trump’s got? Comey should be ashamed of himself? So much for Donald Trump managing to bring false charges against Comey and put him on trial as a political ploy during the 2020 election. Also, if Trump truly thinks that “never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated” like Comey has, then Trump has clearly never read what the Mueller report says about Trump’s own actions.
