Donald Trump needs his blankie

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When word leaked last night that Donald Trump had repeatedly pushed his advisers to try dropping nuclear bombs on hurricanes, Palmer Report pointed out that the real upshot was that one of Trump’s own people had clearly leaked the story. It was as if someone close to Trump finally decided that enough was enough, and that the public should know just how far gone Trump is.

That’s why we’re not particularly surprised to see that Donald Trump is pushing back on this story so angrily. This morning he tweeted: “The story by Axios that President Trump wanted to blow up large hurricanes with nuclear weapons prior to reaching shore is ridiculous. I never said this. Just more FAKE NEWS!”

It’s not just that Trump looks like an idiot for thinking that he could nuke a hurricane out of existence. Plenty of clueless people out there believe this kind of nonsense, and in fact we’d bet money that the majority of Trump’s base believes it. The real embarrassment here is that one of Trump’s own people leaked this just to humiliate him, and Trump knows it.

For the record, we’re going to take the side of Axios on this one. Their inside sourcing has a proven track record. When it comes to Donald Trump, let’s just say that he has a proven track record of saying idiotic things and then lying about it.
