Donald Trump goes completely over the edge after his plan to buy Greenland blows up in his face

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After Donald Trump was routinely humiliated for having thought he could somehow have the United States buy Greenland, he – or more likely his Twitter handlers – seemed to try playing the whole thing off as a joke last night. Trump’s official account tweeted an image of Trump Tower in the middle of a village in Greenland, and promised not to try to make it happen.

But just now, Trump let us know how very serious he was about buying Greenland – and now the whole thing is interfering with international diplomacy. Trump posted this tweet about Denmark, which owns Greenland:

Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time. The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!

We’re not sure which scenario is worse: that Trump canceled this summit out of spite because he learned that Greenland is not for sale, or that Denmark canceled the summit because it was so offended by Trump’s asinine desire to buy Greenland. Either way, this is a complete disaster. As per usual, Donald Trump’s idiocy has humiliated the United States on the world stage in a very tangible way.
