The impeachment of Donald Trump just took a major step forward

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Thirty-six hours ago, Palmer Report predicted that we were mere hours away from a major step forward in the impeachment of Donald Trump. Sure enough, it’s now happened, as we’ve reached an impeachment milestone that would have been difficult to imagine just a few months ago.

Over the past week and a half we’ve seen Robert Mueller’s public testimony, Donald Trump’s evil racist meltdown about Congressman Elijah Cummings and the city of Baltimore, and the House Judiciary Committee’s decision to use a court filing to open a low-key impeachment inquiry. This has all added up to enough momentum to prompt an accelerating number of House Democrats to publicly come out in favor of impeachment.

Earlier this week we saw the number of House Democrats in favor of impeachment cross the hundred mark. Today we saw that number reach 118. Why is that number important? It means a majority of House Democrats are now publicly pushing for Trump to be impeached. This milestone doesn’t officially trigger anything, but it does make for a worthwhile narrative for the mainstream media to run with.

The more the media talks about the impeachment process advancing, the more Americans will start to conclude that Donald Trump should indeed be impeached. Notably, the person who put the impeachment number over the top today is Congressman Ted Deutch. He’s the Chairman of the House Ethics Committee. While the Ethics Committee isn’t directly involved in the impeachment process of a president, it’s nonetheless fitting.
