Donald Trump’s Jeffrey Epstein scandal just took a violent turn

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In the two and a half weeks since Donald Trump’s old friend Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on charges of sex trafficking of minors, we’ve seen Trump’s Secretary of Labor forced to resign for his role in initially letting Epstein off the hook, and we’ve seen reports that Trump and Epstein used to throw wild parties together. Even as we wait to find out precisely what role Trump might have played in the Epstein crimes and/or coverup, the whole thing just took a violent turn tonight.

Jeffrey Epstein has been found in his jail cell tonight with injures around his neck, according to NBC News. Various sources are suggesting to NBC that Epstein may have tried to hang himself, or that he may have been assaulted by another inmate, or that Epstein may have staged the whole thing in an effort to get moved to a different jail.

Any of the above scenarios would certainly be plausible. Child rapists tend to be prime targets for violence at the hands of their fellow inmates. Epstein appears to be in protective custody in the jail, but NBC says that the fellow inmate being questioned in the matter is an ex-cop turned drug dealer, so he could also have been in protective custody. Either way, it doesn’t appear that Epstein is in danger of dying from his injuries.

In any case, this development is a sobering reminder of just how hideous Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes are, just how much jeopardy he’s now facing for those crimes, and how much uglier this could all get before it’s said and done. Prior to this incident, there had been a lot of discussion about the possibility of Epstein cutting a plea deal against Donald Trump – but even in such case, Epstein would be looking at a very long sentence.
