Donald Trump just found a way to ruin Father’s Day

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As a general rule, Donald Trump manages to screw up or sabotage everything he touches. It’s always been true in real estate, it’s clearly true in politics, and it’s become even more apparent since he took office. What’s remarkable is that Trump also manages to screw up the little things, and the personal things, and the kinds of things that are pretty difficult to find a way to screw up. For instance, Father’s Day.

This morning, Donald Trump posted this tweet: “Happy Father’s Day to all, including my worst and most vicious critics, of which there are fewer and fewer. This is a FANTASTIC time to be an American! KEEP AMERICA GREAT!” That’s right, he only managed to stay on message for five words before veering into a wildly inappropriate partisan rant that had nothing to do with the occasion. But it got worse.

At this point Donald Trump still had the benefit of the doubt of saying the wrong thing in public, but perhaps still doing the right thing in private. For all we knew, he might have been spending Father’s Day with his young son Barron. But as it turns out, nope. Manu Raju of CNN tweeted that Donald Trump went golfing today with Lindsey Graham, as opposed to spending the day with his son.

We try never to make Barron a subject of our political analysis, for obvious reasons. But it’s fair grounds to call out Donald Trump for being a jerk of a father to the kid on Father’s Day. It’s yet another reminder that Donald manages to get everything wrong, big and small. He’s not a well intentioned person who happens to suck at being president. He’s not a good president who happens to suck at being a human. He sucks at every single aspect of life.
