Last month Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated that Donald Trump is “unwell,” that his family and staffers should stage an “intervention,” and that he should consider taking a leave of absence from office. Though she can’t invoke it herself, Pelosi also mentioned the 25th Amendment. Tonight, Trump decided to remind everyone that what Pelosi said about him is precisely correct.

It all started when cherished actress Bette Midler tweeted a Donald Trump meme which included a quote that sounded exactly like something Trump would say, but turned out not to be Trump’s words. When Midler realized this, she deleted it and apologized to her followers for her errr, as any responsible person would. The whole thing was quickly forgotten. But a day and a half later, in the midst of his UK trip, Trump decided to throw a complete tantrum about it, at around 1:30am local time.

Trump posted this deranged late night meltdown of a tweet: “Washed up psycho @BetteMidler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make “your great president” look really bad. She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!” To be clear, Midler did not “fabricate” the quote; she merely mistakenly believed it was real.

In any case, a few hours from now, Donald Trump is supposed to attend an event commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Countless American solders and allied soldiers gave their lives that day to save the world. But instead of focusing on that, Trump is ranting about Bette Midler. This is precisely the stuff the 25th Amendment is made of.
