Donald Trump just tried to perpetrate yet another fraud on the American people

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This week the House of Representatives is expected to vote on the Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identify in a wide variety of areas, including employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, and the jury system. The current draft of the Act also would remove exemptions for religious organizations. The House likely will pass the legislation and the bill when introduced was jointly introduced in the House and Senate, with both Republicans and Democrats supporting it.

However, if it gets to “President” Donald Trump’s desk, he likely will veto the legislation. A spokesperson issued the following statement about the Act: “The Trump administration absolutely opposes discrimination of any kind and supports the equal treatment of all; however, this bill in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine parental and conscience rights.”  Specifics about these supposed poison pills are, of course, not mentioned. The public has expressed overwhelming support for protecting the LGBTQ community, and this Act would go a long way toward providing such protections.

Like many things in this administration, Donald Trump’s previous world, including when he was promoting LGBT rights during the 2016 election, ring hollow and constitute continued fraud against the United States of America. The Trump administration’s harmful, hateful approach to just about everything it touches is a fraud on equality for all.
