Donald Trump is finally getting his day in the sun – and he’s melting

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

You’re Donald Trump. With your criminal scandals closing in on you, you’ve just gone to great lengths to sabotage the primary investigation into your crimes, and you’ve managed to temporarily get yourself falsely declared innocent. So what do you do, once you’ve finally achieved your day in the sun? That’s when you remember you’re a vampire – and vampires can’t handle the sunlight.

The above description may be a bit on the dramatic side, but it’s the most apt metaphor that comes to mind. Donald Trump has, in his mind at least, a clean slate. Maybe he understands that the Mueller report will surface and deliver a bodyblow to him before much longer, or maybe he’s convinced himself that he’s somehow home free. Either way, we’re now seeing Trump moving full speed ahead, on a path of his choosing, and it turns out he only understands going in one particular direction.

Donald Trump threw an exoneration celebration for himself and his fellow gutter dwellers this week, but instead of trying to say or or anything constructive at all, he ended up merely hurling idiotic pejoratives like “pencil neck” at the widely respected Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. Then he took to Twitter this evening and whined that “It would be so easy to fix our weak and very stupid Democrat inspired immigration laws.”

Really? This isn’t how a leader talks after he’s won. It’s how a loser talks when all he’s ever known is how to whine like a loser. This guy can’t even take a victory lap without coming off like someone who just lost. Donald Trump went to all this trouble to buy himself a window of positive opportunity, yet he’s filling it with more toxic negativity than ever. This guy can’t lead his way out of a paper bag.
