Judge Amy Berman Jackson has issued her formal response today to the revelation that Roger Stone wrote a book about the criminal case against him behind her back, and suffice it to say that it doesn’t look good for Stone. In fact, based on what the judge had to say today, how she said it, and the demands she’s making, it now looks like Stone will be going to jail next week.

Judge Jackson is demanding that Roger Stone provide detailed records as to the timeline of when he wrote the book, when he became aware of the date it would be published and republished, and all communications he had with the book publisher. Stone can’t fudge this, because if the judge thinks that what Stone turns over is suspect, she can simply ask the publisher for the real communications.

Considering the sheer amount of detail that the judge is demanding, it’s clear that she takes Roger Stone’s book very seriously. She appears to be looking for specific details that will allow her to definitively conclude that Stone knowingly violated his full gag order after she handed it down.

The judge has given Roger Stone until Monday, March 11th, to comply with her lengthy list of demands. It’s pretty clear that if she doesn’t like what she sees, she’s going to throw him in jail until the end of his trial. Considering that Stone is likely to be convicted on criminal charges that will put him in prison for the rest of his natural life, this could be Stone’s last-ever week as a free man.
