Has anything that has come out of Donald Trump’s mouth ever been factual? That’s clearly a rhetorical question, as the answer is undoubtedly no. Following the announcement last October that Nikki Haley was stepping down as America’s U.N. ambassador, Trump was asked about whether he would appoint his daughter, Ivanka Trump, as Haley’s replacement. While Trump stated that he thought Ivanka “would be dynamite” in the role as U.N. ambassador, he said he would not consider her due to accurate accusations of nepotism should he pick her.

Fast-forward four months and, as per usual, Trump’s previous statements and promises prove to be nothing but lies. While it has been announced that Trump is considering four individuals to replace Haley, they have yet to rule out Ivanka “if no front-runner emerges,” according to Bloomberg. This comes just after Trump’s first nominee, Heather Nauert, was forced to withdraw her nomination after the revelation that a background check revealed that she had been paying a nanny who was not legally allowed to work in the United States.

While none of this is surprising, the fact that Trump is again considering his own daughter – someone whose sole political experience is completely due to nepotistic advancement – to become America’s ambassador to the U.N. is extremely inappropriate and alarming. Such actions simply further the narrative that Trump runs his administration like a mob boss.

Back in December, Democratic Senator Chris Coons stated that what Trump says and does, “frankly makes him sound more like a mob boss than president of the United States.” To reiterate: Donald Trump continually acts like a mob boss (because he is), uses nepotism to advance family members, and cannot be believed in anything he says.
