Michael Cohen is a man with a lot to say. He’s pleaded guilty to committing felonies at Donald Trump’s instruction. He’s headed to prison for it. He’s said that he’s eager to talk about Trump’s crimes in a public forum – and that’s going to be fascinating, because we only know a fraction of what Cohen and Robert Mueller know. Now Cohen’s upcoming House testimony just got doubled.

We already learned awhile ago that Michael Cohen will testify in public before the House Oversight Committee on February 7th. The request went out earlier this month, and Cohen publicly accepted it. That’ll give Chairman Elijah Cummings and the Democrats a chance to help Cohen expose Trump’s various crimes in front of a live national television audience. But that won’t be Cohen’s only upcoming House appearance.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff hit the Sunday morning talk show circuit and revealed that he’s privately given Michael Cohen a proposed date for testifying before his committee. Cohen hasn’t publicly said anything about this yet, but based on his overall stated desire to cooperate, we expect him to fully cooperate with Schiff, and the agreed-upon date will be announced accordingly.

Donald Trump keeps publicly lashing out at Michael Cohen and threatening his family, in a blatant attempt at intimidating him into not testifying. But we doubt it’ll work. Cohen can potentially convince federal prosecutors to shorten up his three year prison sentence by cooperating with Congress as thoroughly as possible – and he knows that’s his best bet at doing right by his family.
