Donald Trump just got his butt kicked by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on live national television
Donald Trump is staring impeachment and indictment in the face, and he’s such an obvious goner that no one wants to be his new White House Chief of Staff. Yet, in his newfound position of having zero leverage or political muscle, Trump thought it would be a good idea to climb into the ring today with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on live national television. It didn’t go well for him.
Trump held this press conference stunt in an attempt at building momentum for his mythical border wall. He can’t make it happen, because the Democrats are about to control the House, and he can’t get the sixty votes he needs in the Senate for a budget issue like this. So instead Trump tried to bully Pelosi and Schumer in front of the cameras, and threatened to shut down the government.
But Pelosi quickly labeled it the “Trump shutdown,” which caused Trump to recoil. Trump tried claiming that he has the votes for the wall in the House, seemingly claiming that the Republicans are somehow going to be in the majority. This simply opened the door for Pelosi to explain how big of a victory House Democrats had in the midterm elections.
For his part, Chuck Schumer flatly pointed out that Donald Trump is full of crap on the entire border issue: “The Washington Post today gave you a whole lot of Pinocchios.” Trump seemed flustered the entire time, and he was clearly in over his head. Trump wasn’t helped by the animatronic Mike Pence robot seated next to him; it’s unclear why the real Mike Pence wasn’t available.
