photo credit: Bo Erickson/CBS News – If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what does this photograph of Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein and Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski say about what’s going on right now with the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings? That’s the big question being asked after the two Senators, who each have an influential position in the confirmation process, were captured in mid-conservation in a hallway.

Here’s the photo in question of Feinstein and Murkowski, which has spent the past few hours going viral across social media. According to numerous major media reports, the two tried to make sure they were out of earshot of reporters, and then whispered to each other:

It’s not difficult to parse that their conversation was about the Kavanaugh hearings, the mounting sexual assault accusations against Kavanaugh, and the fact that Murkowski โ€“ along with her close ally Susan Collins โ€“ can shut this entire debacle down. Feinstein’s assertive posture in this photo has led various observers to suggest that she was aggressively staring Murkowski down in an attempt at getting her to announce that she’s voting “no” โ€“ but again, no one actually heard what the two were saying.

This came after Lisa Murkowski recently threw her support behind an FBI investigation into the Brett Kavanaugh allegations, before stating later in the day that she wasn’t being entirely serious about it. If Murkowski and/or Collins were to formally demand an FBI probe, it would likely mean the end of the Kavanaugh nomination.
