John Brennan slam dunks Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3760 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.

Donald Trump revoked the security clearance today of widely respected former CIA Director John Brennan, a move aimed partly at trying to intimidate and silence those who would dare to speak the truth, and partly at creating a distraction from Trump’s worsening scandals. But the move didn’t harm Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation one bit, and Brennan is now coming out swinging in response.

Here’s what John Brennan posted in response to the news: “This action is part of a broader effort by Mr. Trump to suppress freedom of speech & punish critics. It should gravely worry all Americans, including intelligence professionals, about the cost of speaking out. My principles are worth far more than clearances. I will not relent.” Numerous political figures came out of the woodwork to defend Brennan and condemn Trump for the move.

Vice President Joe Biden posted this: “In the time I have known him, John Brennan has never been afraid to speak up and give it to you straight. Revoking his security clearance is an act unbecoming of a President. If you think it will silence John, then you just don’t know the man.” Former FBI Director James Comey, a lifelong Republican, called on the public to vote out the Republicans in Congress who are continuing to enable Trump’s behavior.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who served under every U.S. President from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama, called into CNN and slammed Donald Trump for having failed to even so much as consult with current DNI Dan Coats before making the move. Meanwhile, the Republican leaders in Congress, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, made a point of saying nothing at all.
