This week Russian political operative Maria Butina was indicted and arrested, sending shockwaves due to her connections to the Russian government, the NRA, the Donald Trump campaign, and several prominent members of the Republican Party. Now an old tweet from Butina’s Kremlin handler, Russian politician Alexander Torshin, directly incriminates Donald Trump when it comes to colluding with the Russians during the election.

Alexander Torshin is the former head of the Russian upper house of Parliament, and he’s close to Vladimir Putin. Torshin has a Twitter account that’s been blue-checkmark verified, which means it’s really him. Back on February 14th of 2016, he posted a tweet in Russian which translates to “Maria Butina is now in the United States. Writes to me that D. Trump (member of NRA) is really for cooperation with Russia.” Let’s be clear about what this means, because it changes the context of the entire Trump-Russia saga.

Based on this tweet, Torshin sent Butina to the United States specifically to get Donald Trump on board with colluding with Russia. By the time this tweet was posted, Torshin no longer held his Parliament leadership position. However, Putin has since appointed Torshin as deputy governor of a major Kremlin-controlled bank, making clear that the two are closely allied, and suggesting that Putin was rewarding Torshin for having succeeded with Trump. So it’s fair to assume that Torshin was acting on the Kremlin’s behalf when he sent Butina to work with Trump.

This tweet incriminates Donald Trump, but on its own it’s not enough to legally prove Donald Trump’s guilt when it comes to having conspired with Russia during the election. However, the FBI revealed this week that it raided Maria Butina’s home in April, and that she testified before the Senate Intel Committee months ago. So there’s a good chance the Feds already have the full story of Alexander Torshin sending Maria Butina to coordinate with Donald Trump in 2016, and the evidence to prove it.
