Here’s the thing about Donald Trump’s latest insane tweet about North Korea

Donald Trump has launched into yet another demented Twitter rant during the course of his North Korea summit preparations – or has he? His latest tweet has all the hallmarks of a Trump tweet, from the witless catch phrases, to the juvenile insults, to borderline illiterate spelling errors. But something is off with this tweet, and it’s part of a pattern that began the night before last.

Here’s what showed up on Donald Trump’s official Twitter account about an hour ago, at roughly 6:00am local Singapore time: “The fact that I am having a meeting is a major loss for the U.S., say the haters & losers. We have our hostages, testing, research and all missle launches have stoped, and these pundits, who have called me wrong from the beginning, have nothing else they can say! We will be fine!” Hmm, let’s see here. This tweet contains Trump’s infamous “haters & losers” catchphrase. But there’s something very wrong with “missle” and “stoped” – and we don’t mean the fact that they’re spelled wrong.

If you’ve closely watched Donald Trump’s tweets over the years, you’ve noticed that when it comes to spelling, he’s functionally illiterate. Every time he makes a spelling error that also happens to be some other correctly spelled word, such as “to” instead of “too,” or “hear by” instead of “hereby,” autocorrect fails to fix it, and we see the humorous results. This tells us that he’s basically spelling everything wrong, and that the rest is getting cleaned up by autocorrect. There is virtually no way that Trump could have typed “missle” and “stoped” without autocorrect automatically fixing it for him. This means they were spelled wrong on purpose, and then changed back to being incorrect after autocorrect fixed them.

In other words, there’s just no way Donald Trump wrote this tweet. We saw scattered reports last week that Trump’s handlers were ghost-tweeting for him and purposely spelling words wrong in order to make it look more authentic. This latest tweet essentially confirms as much. This comes after two consecutive nights of strange incidents (Night 1, Night 2) which also hinted that someone else was waiting and posting Trump’s tweets. At this point we don’t even know if Trump’s attack on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came from Trump or one of his underlings. Is anyone in charge at this point?
