How long will we be laughing at Trump over his failure with Rocket Man? I think it’s gonna be a long, long time.

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s official: Kim Jong-Un is more grounded in reality than Donald Trump is. Trump is so weak, so vulnerable, in such a deep hole, so close to being ousted, he needed this North Korea summit desperately. He needed it more than Kim did. Kim understood this, and took advantage of that leverage by publicly rubbing it in Trump’s face. Trump finally said screw it today and “canceled” a meeting that was never going to happen anyway. There are a few reasons why this is surreal.

Kim Jong-Un, for all his unhinged behavior and outright evil, managed to play Donald Trump for a fool. We all saw it coming, of course, except for Trump and his supporters. Trump thought he could bring a narcissistic egomaniac like Kim to the table by hurling juvenile insults like “Rocket Man” at him and publicly threatening to nuke his entire country. All that Kim saw was an opportunity to set up Trump and humiliate him for it, while gaining worldwide stature by successfully showing up the President of the United States.

The scary part here is that, thanks to all his boneheaded flubbing, Donald Trump has unwittingly managed to make Kim Jong-Un more powerful and secure in his role as dictator of North Korea. If Kim took on the United States and won, it means he can take on anyone and win, and he knows it. So we can add that to the nearly endless list of things that Trump has made worse in the brief time he’s illegitimately been in office.

But that problem will have to wait for another day. For now, what’s important here is that Donald Trump has managed to screw up what was supposed to have been his only accomplishment. He lost, and the Rocket Man won. How long will we be laughing at Trump over this? I think it’s gonna be a long, long time.
