K Street in Washington DC overtaken by anti-Donald Trump protesters

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The highest profile scheduled protests against the illegitimate inauguration of Donald Trump aren’t set to take place until tomorrow, but that hasn’t stopped large crowds of protesters from taking over chunks of Washington DC already today. In fact protesters have essentially taken control of K Street, even as police are reportedly using flash grenades against the protesters in what is being described by participants as a heated battle.

A video of the police flash bangs in action was posted by New York Times reporter Nick Corasaniti. Washington Post reporter Dalton Bennett was wrestled to the ground by police for videotaping them. And this first-hand photo was posted to Twitter by Washington Post reporter Matea Gold, depicting large crowds and an isolated fire:

Is this really America?

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s inauguration parade route is nearly empty because everyone hates him.
