The January 6th domestic terrorist attack is, thankfully, behind us. That, however, does not mean we should relax our guard. Both the FBI and Capitol Police are now warning about “chatter” regarding March 4th, which is tomorrow.

Although nothing may happen (and we certainly hope that is the case), March 4th is regarded by many members of the QAnon movement as the rightful day Donald Trump will be inaugurated. Many of the QAnon folk have a theory that all Presidents since Ulysses S. Grant are illegitimate. According to their logic, there has not been a real President since 1869.

This conspiracy theory, called the “Sovereign citizen movement,” has been around for decades but has been seized on by QAnon members desperate to find a reason why their original theories failed.

Their theories failed, of course, because they were never real, to begin with, but it is next to impossible to explain that to members of any cult. These Trump supporters also believe that on March 4th, Democrats will be arrested en masse.

Luckily, the police, along with the FBI, are aware of such chatter and are working diligently to protect the Capitol. The fence is still in place, and many members of the National Guard are still in place. It would be much more difficult to breach the Capitol this time.

So what will happen when no Democrats are arrested and Trump is not inaugurated? No doubt the fervent followers will move on to yet another conspiracy theory. But with protection in place at the Capitol and security ramped up, that at least gives us some reassurance.
