The CPAC conference has a new problem. They just opened last night in a hotel. But people are not wanting to wear a mask. They are walking around hotel areas without masks so the hotel has contacted the organizers to request that they tell their members to please put on their masks.

The announcement was made but there were shots of “Freedom!!” in response. While the speakers are sympathetic to people who don’t want to wear masks, they remind the audience that they have only rented certain hotel facilities and must abide by the hotel requirements. Of course, this argument does not resonate with many people in attendance. Several of their attendees are walking around the hotel, taking selfies with friends, maskless.

The problem with people who want to attend this conference is homegrown. They have fostered a resistance to government and rules, and they cannot even abide by rules to save their own lives or the lives of their loved ones. They are trending toward the lawless quadrant in philosophy. The question is whether voters will even want these people representing us in government, and whether we even want these people to live in communities with us.
