This is just ugly for Donald Trump

Although the GOP has spent the last two years vowing to tackle inflation and using it as their issue, it’s become clearer than ever that they don’t actually care about the issue as much as simply having something to run on. The new House GOP leadership, for example, has yet to actually hold a hearing on the subject – a campaign promise they made back in 2022 – and one that probably could unite the party if they were actually serious about working for the American people instead of simply seizing power for themselves and fighting over the party’s leadership.

This isn’t all that new either – as Republicans keep benefitting from (and perpetuating) the myth that somehow they’re good for the economy – largely because every Republican president from Ronald Reagan on has inherited a thriving economy from a Democrat and claimed credit for it. The problem, however, is that fewer people are buying it now than ever before. It’s so bad that Donald Trump has the backing of exactly zero Fortune 500 CEOs – the worst for any president in over a century, as they know his policies would bring up inflation by at least three percent, while also plunging the value of the GDP.

Trump’s plans to gratuitously cut taxes without a commensurate cut while adding ten percent tariffs on everything would cause an immediate collapse of the economy, bringing us back to pandemic level degrees of disaster. This is already after we’ve been told about how disastrously his meeting with business leaders went who were looking for just about any excuse to support him. What’s becoming clearer now than ever is Donald Trump is seeking to implement policies that would immediately tank the economy – something that would clearly be in the interest of China and Russia, both of whom seem eager to want Trump back in charge, and this should be the only way for the media to approach the story.
