There’s no way to know for sure if Donald Trump Jr is included in whatever Paul Manafort-provoked criminal roundup we’re about to see Robert Mueller carry out within the next week. But it may be telling that Trump Jr has reportedly been telling people that he thinks he’s about to get indicted and arrested, and Donald Trump himself is worried about it as well. Even more notable is Trump’s reason for fearing that his son is about to get popped.

Time and again we’ve seen Vanity Fair reporter Emily Jane Fox demonstrate that she has sources inside the Trump inner circle. Now she’s on MSNBC saying that Donald Trump’s current panic is “not necessarily concern for the fate of his child” but rather that if “Don Jr. is indicted that it could perhaps have implications on him.” That’s remarkable, yet not necessarily surprising.

In other words, Donald Trump isn’t staying up at night worrying for his son. Instead he’s staying up at night worrying that if and when his son gets popped, it’ll put Robert Mueller a major step closer to popping him. This guy is a sociopathic malignant narcissist to the end, perfectly willing to sacrifice his own child if necessary, yet worried that there may be no way to save himself by sacrificing his child.

In any case, even if Donald Trump Jr naively declines to cut a plea deal against his father, it won’t matter. Mueller already has the cooperation of key former Trump underlings Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, and Michael Flynn, among others. That alone is enough to get to Donald Trump, with or without Junior’s help.
