Donald Trump is more radioactive than ever

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump entered office with historically low approval ratings, which fell even further once he got into office, but have since leveled off for the past several months. They may not drop any further until we see the legal results of the investigations into Trump’s various criminal antics. But we’ve just been reminded, that even with his low numbers holding steady, Trump is more radioactive than ever.

Remember back when so many popular musicians refused to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration? There’s a price to be paid when public figures align themselves with a racist and sexist criminal lowlife like Trump. Earlier today, Canadian singer Shania Twain paid that price when she responded to an interview question by saying she would have voted for Trump if she could, because he seemed like he was “honest.” This immediately set fire to Twain’s career and reputation, and had her scrambling to backtrack.

Minutes after the interview was published, her name was the top trending topic on Twitter, as her fans rushed to denounce her and disown her. Almost immediately, Twain posted an apology, essentially claiming that she knew too little about U.S. politics to have had an accurate understanding of Trump, and asserting that she would never have knowingly aligned herself with his bigotry. Twain has now posted four tweets trying to walk it all back and distance herself from Trump.

It’s a reminder that while fans may be able to accept that their favorite performer supports an opposing political party, they will not accept their favorite performer being aligned with Donald Trump. This isn’t about politics. It’s the fact that Trump represents everything that’s wrong with the human race, in a manner which goes far beyond politics. If there was any fear that Trump’s reprehensible nature might be on its way to becoming normalized, just ask Shania Twain as she pays the price for having merely aligned herself with Trump in response to an interview question.
