This weekend Vice President Mike Pence visited the concentration camps near the border and blamed the Democrats for the inhumane way we are treating the detainees. Over the weekend, we learned that the administration is very close to sending all asylum seekers, regardless of where they came from, to Guatemala, which would be an illegal act by the United States. Today, Trump woke up and decided to make scurrilous and offensive attacks on members of the House of Representatives. Trump tweeted:

So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

This is wrong on many levels. First, of the four members of the House of Representatives he is referring to, only one of them – Ilhan Omar – is an immigrant. The other three were born in the United States. More importantly, members of Congress were elected to represent we, the people, and have every right to advise and lead this government.

Trump continues to be a dumpster diver of the largest magnitude. Corruptis Maximus is vile and his rhetoric is hateful, racist and dangerous. But like anything he does, nobody in the Republican Party will say a word – at least until they leave Washington and write a book.
