Donald Trump’s mail-in vote sabotage scheme is unraveling already
With his weak approval rating and oft-demonstrated inability to pull off almost any scheme he tries these days, there is no reason to believe that Donald Trump can somehow manipulate the post office in such a way that magically delivers him a victory. To that end, Trump is now tripping over his own silly scheme.
Trump tweeted this today: “Whether you call it Vote by Mail or Absentee Voting, in Florida the election system is Safe and Secure, Tried and True. Florida’s Voting system has been cleaned up (we defeated Democrats attempts at change), so in Florida I encourage all to request a Ballot & Vote by Mail! #MAGA”
Wait, what? Trump has gone from insisting that mail-in voting and absentee voting are two opposite things, to now admitting that they’re two different ways to describe literally the same thing. This only serves to further weaken his already-ineffective argument that people shouldn’t be allowed to vote by mail during the pandemic.
This is the latest reminder that Donald Trump is so far gone cognitively, and so weakened, he lacks the ability to pull off his own schemes anymore. Then again, he’s working hard to try to trick Resistance members into believing that it won’t be safe to vote by mail, so they’ll go around telling others not to bother, thus reducing the number of people who actually bother to vote. It’s crucial that the Resistance doesn’t fall for this trap.
