GOP goes even further off the lunatic deep end

Perhaps you’ve heard of or even read Stephen King’s horror novel Needful Things. The plot revolves around a new shop called Needful Things. Customers entering this magical store find — their heart’s desire.

It doesn’t matter what that desire is- it could be anything. But there it is, and all the customer has to do is buy it — but it comes with a price, a bit of a payment if you will, with customers being asked to perform — little practical jokes — against each other.

Such a fine book it is! How deeply it makes this writer think of the GOP! What, you may ask, does the GOP have in common with this most fascinating novel. Well — in a way, the GOP saw THEIR biggest wish come true — the fall of Roe.

And all of a sudden, little republican weebles were alive! They were filled with joy at realizing their life’s desire to subjugate women, so the little misogynists became feral, running about trying to destroy everything meaningful to women and families, abortions, IVF, contraception — and in the process, the joke was on them as they lost: their minds, political ideals, plus any sanity that was left.

Yes, the GOP are needful things, the neediest. How they ACHE to control women! Had they walked into Stephen King’s most interesting store, they would have seen the fall of Roe behind the counters. But as I said, the joke is on them – because they now they can;t stop.

It’s like all the seething hate, all the superiority they felt over women, the anger, the haughtier, the condescension — just came flying out of them. Now, they have a new target. That target is no-fault divorce.

Crooks & Liars has a great headline on this: “We knew this was coming: GOPers want to ban No-Fault divorce.” The GOP argues that no-fault laws hurt families, especially men.

Democrats say were no-fault to be eliminated, a spouse would not have due process — for example, a woman in an abusive relationship would not be able to use that abuse to get out of the marriage.

Some states considering eliminating no-fault include Texas,, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Oklahoma—all red states. An attorney on Twitter had the following to say:

“As a divorce attorney, I whole-heartedly advocate that if no-fault divorces are outlawed that women should stop getting married period.” I completely agree. This is the latest insane move for the needful things party. Seriously, will Republicans EVER do ANYTHING for the American people that does not include taking away women’s rights or protecting Donald trump? It does not seem likely.
