Did Donald Trump just steal classified documents again?
Donald Trump was criminally indicted under the Espionage Act for stealing classified documents. He would have gone on trial and ended up in prison if not for a one-in-seven random draw that assigned the case to his puppet, Judge Aileen Cannon, who ensured that the case never got to trial. That’s right, we’re in this mess because a ping pong ball bounced the wrong way.
In any case, now that Trump is inexplicably the President of the United States again, he has full control of the Department of Justice. The federal criminal indictments against him have been dropped. And now Trump has had the DOJ return the boxes that were seized from Mar-a-Lago. How do we know this? Trump is bragging about it on social media.
What’s not clear is whether the classified documents that Trump stole are still in these boxes. One would think that they were already placed back where they belong, apart from the seized boxes. But if that’s the case, what would the DOJ even be returning to him? Empty cardboard boxes?
It’s enough to raise the question of whether Donald Trump just re-stole the classified documents that he got indicted for stealing in the first place. In any case it’s the latest reminder that Trump is literally a traitor against the United States.
